Individual service
Bring stained plaster back to one clean color.
Algae, debris and mineral build-up discolor plaster over time. An acid wash removes a very thin top layer and reveals the clean surface underneath.
How an acid wash works
Also known as a drain and clean, an acid wash starts by draining the pool to reach the plaster. A diluted acid solution is applied around the pool and brushed across the surface, taking off a very thin layer of discolored plaster. What is underneath is one even color.
When it makes sense
An acid wash is a restoration service, not routine maintenance. We recommend it when stains come from long periods of stagnant water, algae, settled debris or chemical build-up, and when regular brushing and balancing will not bring the surface back.

Acid Wash questions
Will an acid wash damage my plaster?
Not when it is done properly and only when needed. Plaster has at least half an inch of thickness, and a wash removes a very small layer. Repeated washes do shorten plaster life, so we only recommend one when it will make a real difference.
How often should a pool be acid washed?
Only as needed. It is most common after water has sat stagnant for a long time, or when chemical build-up has stained the walls and floor.
