New plaster, started up right.
A replaster is a big investment. The first four weeks decide how long it lasts. We manage the start-up so the surface cures evenly and stays beautiful.
The first seven days
Once the new plaster is in and the pool is refilled, a seven-day start-up begins:
- Chemistry held in a narrow range: calcium hardness 200–400 ppm, pH 7.2–7.6 and alkalinity 80–120.
- Brushed every day with a nylon brush.
- Vacuumed with a bristled head, never a roller vacuum, so the fresh surface is not marked.
At the end of the week, the filter is cleaned and weekly maintenance begins.
Weeks two through four
The next three weeks are just as important. Chemical levels stay carefully controlled, and the bristled vacuum head stays in use. Salt is added after day 28.
